WASHINGTON STATE WINEMAKERS

by Albert Nathaniel Drake

Millions of years ago volcanoes and massive floods sculpted Washington State and left in multiple areas unique soils for vineyards. The latitude is the same for wine areas in France, the benefit is more sunlight during growing seasons. Rain in eastern Washington is sparse which is favorable for wine grape development. The State wines have increasingly in the last two decades been acclaimed world wide as excellent, winning top recognition in competitive wine tasting events. The book, WASHINGTON STATE WINEMAKERS, progresses from descriptions of the unique wine appellations, to wine grape varietals, to short winery biographies, and ends with a guide for travelers interested in the State wine area tours. Most states now permit delivery of wine from out of state wineries and the book is helpful for any that desire to explore direct purchase of Washington State wines.
