Cynthia Reeg

Cynthia Reeg pursued her love of reading and writing with an undergraduate degree in English Literature from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and then a Masters of Library Science from Oklahoma University. She has worked in both school and public libraries. Currently, she is a volunteer reading tutor as well as a children’s author.

Cynthia is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, the Missouri Writers Guild, the St. Louis Children’s Writers Circle, the American Library Association, the Catholic Library Association, and the St. Louis Catholic Library Association. Her children’s writings have appeared in FACES, My Friend, Clubhouse, Dragonfly Spirit, and she has pending publications in Ladybug, Highlights and Stories for Children magazines, as well as a short story in the upcoming Blooming Tree Press anthology, The Girls.

Cynthia received the Missouri SCBWI 2006 Mentorship Award for her middle grade novel, THE SLIGHTLY TANGLED TALES OF JIM-BO BAXTER. Three of her poems have won top honors in the annual Springfield, Missouri Writers Guild Contest. Her Hispanic Christmas story, The Lost Shepherd Boy, received Special Mention in the 2006 Society of Southwestern Authors Writing Contest. Her latest Christmas story, Christmas Treasures, earned first runner-up in the 2007 Springfield Writers Contest.

Her educational children's picture book, KITTY KERPLUNKING, was published in 2006 by Guardian Angel Publishing. (www.guardianangelpublishing.com) This book is now used by the OASIS reading program in the St. Louis area for tutoring elementary students. Her second picture book with Guardian Angel Publishing, GIFTS FROM GOD, was published in the summer of 2007.

Cynthia lives in St. Louis with her husband, Robert. She has two grown sons, Matt and Dan, who have provided her with inspiration since they were babies. Her cats Herman and Henry, as well as her dog Holly, serve as creative consultants for all Cynthia’s stories. She enjoys playing tennis, hiking, dancing and, of course, reading.
