Nana Star

by Elizabeth Sills and Elena Patrice

Nana StarNana Star is the first story in the new children's series that follows a little girl's adventures in returning a lost baby star to his home--and his nana--in the heavens. Until she can get him home to his real nana, the little girl becomes his Nana Star. Along the way, readers will meet all sorts of special characters, including a wise old olive tree and the Moonman. Nana Star opens a rich imaginary world for young readers while celebrating the virtue of a generous heart.

The story of Nana Star is based upon the magical world created by the authors' grandmother, Elizabeth Owens, when they were small. Authors Patrice and Sills have breathed new life into their grandmother's characters who sat in a shoebox on a closet shelf for many years. The book is illustrated by Linda Saker, Owens' daughter and the authors' mother, in cheerful, vintage-style watercolor and ink.

Nana Star is a simple story of kindness and love that children will find uplifting and reassuring. Grandparents and parents will recognize passages that pay homage to beloved children's classics The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman.

A bonus CD audio version of the story and Nana Star theme song accompanies each picture book.
