To Love and To Work

by Tracie Clayton

To Love and To Work, a contemporary urban women's novel, begins as Roberta Rubin gets downsized from her miserable corporate job and parts with her incongruous boyfriend. Her consuming crush on a neighbor seems unrequited when she spots him coming out of his apartment early in the morning holding hands with a supermodel. Roberta's job search goes badly when she rehashes the flaws of her previous employer during interviews. She gets an opportunity to appear on a television quiz show and if she succeeds, this could free her of her financial concerns. She also feels hopeful when she meets a nice guy at a seminar. A temporary job as a personal assistant brings Roberta into the world of soap opera diva Barrie Rydell and her four pampered pooches. After averting a wardrobe crisis before The Daytime Glory Awards, Roberta considers a new career as far away from her original path as she could have imagined.

Will Roberta win the big money? Is the nice guy really nice? What about the hot neighbor? Will Roberta, Barrie and the dogs form a strong professional alliance?
