All records regarding birth, death, marriage and divorce are available through the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment. Birth Certificates are obtainable either by visiting a local county offices, online, mail or fax. Certificates
are available for records within the state from 1900 to current. Older requires research done by the genealogy department.
Birth and death records searches are approximately $17 dollars and $10 dollars each additional copy. Heirloom copies are
available for birth and marriage certificates for $50.

Marriage and divorce records have odd years of availability. Marriage records for the state are available from the years
1900 to 1939 and 1975 to present. Marriage dissolution records are available from 1851 to 1939 and 1968 to present. All
other years of records must be obtained from the local county offices of where the event was filed for.

Adoption records for Colorado have abnormal record sealing. All adoptions before 1951 are sealed records and require a court
order to open. While adoptions between 1951 and 1967 are available to the adoptee and sealed to all others. Records from 1967
to 1999 are once again sealed to everyone without a court order. All records after Sept 1 1999 up to the present are again
readily available to the adoptee without court intervention.
