Use this page to find public records as well as local information from local county and city sources. Find information such a birth certificates, death certificates, marriage and divorce decrees, adoption records, property ownership, and property tax values.
Public Records Search
In addition to the county vital records departments, the Illinois Department of Public Health manages and archives birth and death records from 1916 and marriage and divorce records from 1962. Birth and death certificates come in two versions, a computer abstract fora fee of $10 a search and $2 each additional copy or a certified exact copy for $15 dollars and $2 each additional copy.

The state can provide verification of marriages and divorces but does not provide certified copies. Contact the county clerk of court from the county in which the event was filed to receive a certificate. Marriage and divorce verifications cost $5 dollars a search/copy from the Public Health Department.

The state runs an agency known as the IARMIE (Illinois Adoption Registry and Medical Information Exchange) to help adoptees and birth families exchange information. Medical records can be shared while still being anonymous or participants can volunteer to give full disclosure of contact information. All adoption records are considered confidential information otherwise.

Parcel and property records are maintained by the county assessor's department, treasurers office and GIS/Mapping departments. Information available is property sales, parcel size, owner history and land use information.
